COSA INSTRUMENT CORPORATION SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH PHOTON CONTROL
Yaphank, NY, USA - Cosa is excited to announce our partnership with Photon Control located in Burnaby, British Columbia. Photon Control has focused much of its research and development efforts to produce a line of optical gas flow measurement products for flare gas measurement. These flow meters are ideally suited for low-pressure applications with widely variable flow rates. Their flow measurement products use light to measure, analyze or control. These products work in the harshest, most demanding environments because light is immune to temperature extremes, electro-magnetic interference, sound, mechanical forces, etc.

Yaphank, NY - NEW APPROACH TO MOISTURE MEASURMENT WITH Al2O3 SENSORS
Cosa Instrument Corporation announces a series of moisture measurement solutions for hydrocarbon liquids based on Xentaur’s breakthrough HTF™ aluminum oxide technology. The COSA/XENTAUR Moisture Team provides a much needed new approach to Al2O3 sensor calibration, resulting in quick, easy and accurate measurements. This innovative calibration protocol uses the “sensor” to obtain a Water Index rather than an absolute value. By understanding the theory and combining it with a few empirical determinations, the calibration protocol solves many current issues in the field. Results from both the lab and the field are available.
Mitsubishi    Norwood, NJ - COSA ANNOUNCES A BREAKTHROUGH IN THE BROMINE NUMBER/BROMINE INDEX MEASUREMENT.
The COSA CA-100 Karl Fischer Moisture Meter allows the simultaneous measurement of moisture and Bromine Index/Bromine Number. This method is primarily used to measure the unsaturation level of hydrocarbons in fats, oils, and in petroleum products. Bromine Index and Bromine Number are important parameters for monitoring the purity of petroleum distillates. While the methods recommended by ASTM are complicated, Mitsubishi has developed an innovative and easy Bromine Index/Bromine Number measurement method. Bromine Number is expressed as the grams of Bromine (Br) available to react with 100 grams of the product. Bromine Index is expressed as the milligrams of Bromine available to react with 100 grams of the product under the specified condition. Comparison of data for cyclohexene, some unsaturated hydrocarbons, aromatic compounds, and higher alcohols against data generated by ASTM D1159-98, D2710-99 and D5776-99 shows the COSA's Bromine Index/Bromine Number method provides equivalent results, yet is easier to use and does not require a dedicated instrument. Analysis of Bromine Index of Aromatic Hydrocarbons Coulometrically via ASTM D1492 is also possible with the CA-100. The dual function of the CA-100 Karl Fischer Moisture Meter provides the optimal solution to the analytical needs of any laboratory.
Xentaur   Yaphank, NY - LOOP-POWERED DEWPOINT TRANSMITTER WITH WATERPROOF SENSOR
Model HDT-60 is a loop powered dewpoint transmitter with isolated analog and digital HART compliant output, housed in a compact NEMA4X stainless steel housing. The HDT is equipped with a factory programmable alarm signal through an output pin.
The transmitter is currently available with the Xentaur XTR-60 HTF™ aluminum oxide sensor, which was designed for tough high pressure and liquid applications. The XTR-60 has a measurement range of -76°F to +86°F dewpoint (-60°C to +30°C dewpoint) is temperature compensated and fully waterproof.
The HDT-60 is suited ideally for applications where the sensor is periodically exposed to water slugging or condensates. Even after full immersion into water or other liquids, the sensor will recover quickly and resume operation without requiring recalibration. This makes the HDT-60 the tool of choice for dewpoint control on refrigerant air dryers, plastic hopper dryers, solvent recovery systems, etc.
